hey guys! Steven Universe is back for the new year! Here are some paints I did for this weeks episode, Serious Steven. The continuously awesome Sam Bosma did the layout for this episode!

Hey! I drew most of these! All except for the top one. I haven’t seen this episode yet, but as far as I know it’s about triangles and strawberries (a great shape and a great fruit). Shoutout to Amanda for her bonkers colors, as usual.

SUPER GORGEOUS

Wanted to try something different and it’s been a while since I drew the guy.

Evan’s drawings make me happy.

My friend Eric said we can shout it from the rooftops! By golly, that’s what I’ll do!

They just announced the Zatoichi Box Set from Criterion. I did a piece for Zatoichi and the Chest of Gold. Obviously, getting to have art in something produced by Criterion is something that was on my checklist as a young lad. I’ve been a fan since their laserdisc releases when I was a kid in Indiana going to Video Vault and combing through movies I had no right looking at. They always caught my eye. Couple that with Zatoichi, which my dad and I watched on IFC every Saturday morning, and you have the things childhood dreams are made of!

It was truly an honor because this is the list of creators that worked on this project: Cover by Ron Wimberly. Additional illustrations by Greg Ruth, Paul Pope, Scott Morse, Samuel Hiti, Josh Cochran, Evan Bryce, Ricardo Venâncio, Robert Goodin, Yuko Shimizu, Jorge Coelho, Vera Brosgol, Matt Kindt, Connor Willumsen, Patrick Leger, Jim Rugg, Jhomar Soriano, Angie Wang, Ming Doyle, Caitlin Kuhwald, Benjamin Marra, Bill Sienkiewicz, Andrew MacLean, Polly Guo, Barnaby Ward, Victor Kerlow

Eric and I met up through my friend Connor, who I secretly call “Kid Amazing” to everyone I show his work to. Connor and I used to frequent all the same art messageboards years ago, and we’d gotten to talking. He sent my work to Eric, and Eric contacted me to work on a project of his. It turned out Eric was a fantastic person, and other than Kristian Donaldson, has actively done what he could to get me work. I’m pretty sure they believe in my art more than I do, and I love them because of that. Well, Eric and I made an art baby in a comic Eric wrote, colored, and lettered…because he’s crazy talented like that. It’s called EGG, and it has the awesome super friend Ming Doyle in it too!

Either way, Eric is an amazing human being, and he helped me get into this with a bunch of my art idols. He helped push me to make something I’m proud of! He believes in me enough to make art with people I thought I would never be in the same hemisphere as.

Thanks Eric!

Evan is the dopest.

jamiekinosian asked: What are your favorite arting tools?

Other than the inking stuff that I talked about here, I pencil in Manga Studio 5 with a Wacom. Whenever I pencil traditionally, which is rare these days, I use Pilot Color Eno Soft Blue leads.

alejandrobruzzese asked: Sir! How can I get my hands on Like a Virus? I missed the whole Kickstarter dealie.

We’re still in the process of finishing incentives and fulfilling orders for the Kickstarter, so it’s only available at cons at the moment. However, as soon as our backers get their copies it will be available online and even at a few comic shops.

Pretty Deadly Issue 2 Full Wraparound Cover!  You see it first, Tumblr.

The last image you see here was actually the first rough for the PD 1 cover. Ultimately we decided to hold off on it and I´m glad, because it was the Ginny/Bones Bunny cover that  solidified the approach I would be talking to covers from there on out: animal/character pairings that foreshadow story notes and illustrate characters’ true natures. Once I had that thinking down, I was able to take elements from the original PD1 cover design and incorporate them into this…
Tumblr, this is Alice.
